It’s Never too Late to Straighten Your Smile

Braces as an adult? No way. At least, that was what I thought when my dentist told me that I was going to have to see an orthodontist about my crooked teeth. But my teeth were so misaligned that they were causing me pain when I chewed, so I decided to at least look into it. Turns out braces today are nothing like the ones my friends had when I was a kid. Mine were practically invisible, and I didn't need to wear them that long. I started this blog to encourage other people like me who are nervous about the prospect of wearing braces as an adult. My straight smile is so worth the trips to the orthodontist, and wearing braces was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Read on to find out more about how you can straighten your smile.

Making Your Holiday Gift-Giving Lists? 4 Dental Care Gifts To Give Your College Kids

by Jacqueline Byrd

With the holidays approaching so quickly, now's the time to start thinking about those unique gift ideas. If your kids are away at college, you want to give them gifts that they'll use, and they'll appreciate. Instead of getting them the usual clothes and electronic gadgets, get them something that will provide them with lasting benefits. Give them the gift of dental care. Here are four dental care gifts your adult kids will love:

Free Dental Checkups

When you're just starting out, it can be tough to fit dental visits into the budget. If your kids are away at college, it's not always easy for them to use your dental insurance. Make sure your kids have proper dental care, even while they're away, by giving them free dental checkups this holiday season. You can contact a dentist near your kid's college, and arrange to pay for their visits in advance. That way, when it's time for their semi-annual exams, all they'll need to do is call and set up an appointment.

Professional Whitening Treatment

When your kids are away at college, they want to make sure they look their very best. That includes keeping their teeth as white as possible. If your kids are like most college students, they're probably drinking a lot of coffee to help keep them alert for those early morning classes, and late night study sessions. Give your kids the gift of white teeth by paying for a year of professional teeth whitening treatments. Your kids will have beautifully white teeth, and they'll think of you every time their smile is complimented.

Water Flosser

When it comes to college, spare time is in short supply. If your kids are missing out of flossing because they don't have time in the morning, make sure they have plenty of time to care for their teeth. Give them an electric water flosser as one of their holiday gifts. Water flossers use a stream of water to get between the teeth, and below the gum line, to get rid of bacteria and food particles. Best of all, water flossers are quick and easy to use.

Toothbrush Sanitizer

If you're worried that your kids won't change their toothbrushes as often as they should, or that they'll leave them out on the germ-ridden counters, get them a toothbrush sanitizer this year. Toothbrush sanitizers come in a wide variety of models and will keep your kid's toothbrushes clean and sanitized, even in a college dorm.

Not sure what to get your college-aged kids for the holidays this year? Give them the gift of good oral hygiene.
