It’s Never too Late to Straighten Your Smile

Braces as an adult? No way. At least, that was what I thought when my dentist told me that I was going to have to see an orthodontist about my crooked teeth. But my teeth were so misaligned that they were causing me pain when I chewed, so I decided to at least look into it. Turns out braces today are nothing like the ones my friends had when I was a kid. Mine were practically invisible, and I didn't need to wear them that long. I started this blog to encourage other people like me who are nervous about the prospect of wearing braces as an adult. My straight smile is so worth the trips to the orthodontist, and wearing braces was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Read on to find out more about how you can straighten your smile.

Why Pediatric Eye Care Is So Important For Your Growing Toddler

by Jacqueline Byrd

One of the best parts of being a parent is watching your infant grow and develop into their own person. It's wonderful to see as your child's personality begins to show itself in so many funny ways and you would do anything to make sure that your little one is always able to be healthy and happy. Regular visits with the pediatrician are essential but there are other medical professionals out there who can help your toddler as well. Taking your child to see a pediatric eye care specialist can do so much to make sure your precious one is always able to delight in the joys of sight.

Catch Potential Eye Trouble Before It Gets Worse

You might work around people with severe eye health problems and wonder how they were allowed to progress to that point. The truth is that many eye-related issues can be treated if they are caught in time. If you are willing to invest the time into taking your toddler in to see a pediatric eye care professional it can have positive effects much later on.

For example, you might notice that your child's eyes tend to cross over each other when watching television. This might seem like a cute little trick and it's easy to ignore it if you aren't aware of what it really means. This could actually be an indication that your child will develop "lazy eye" later on. If the problem isn't repaired in time, it could lead to your toddler being bullied when they start to attend school. You probably already know how damaging bullying can be and want to do anything you can to keep your child away from it.

Testing Is The Name Of The Game

If you or your child's other parent suffers from an eye ailment or possibly come from a family where eye disease is common you might be concerned about your toddler coming down with the same problem. Rather than waste time in worry you should take your baby directly to a pediatric eye care specialist. They will run various tests to determine the likelihood that your child will get the same eye disease. They can also suggest some preventative measures for you to take that may be able to lower your toddler's risk of ever getting the illness.

Visiting a pediatric eye care center can be very enlightening. Your child will be learning about themselves while also beginning to understand the importance of making their eye health a priority.
