It’s Never too Late to Straighten Your Smile

Braces as an adult? No way. At least, that was what I thought when my dentist told me that I was going to have to see an orthodontist about my crooked teeth. But my teeth were so misaligned that they were causing me pain when I chewed, so I decided to at least look into it. Turns out braces today are nothing like the ones my friends had when I was a kid. Mine were practically invisible, and I didn't need to wear them that long. I started this blog to encourage other people like me who are nervous about the prospect of wearing braces as an adult. My straight smile is so worth the trips to the orthodontist, and wearing braces was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Read on to find out more about how you can straighten your smile.

3 Signs It Is Time To Invest In Dental Crowns

by Jacqueline Byrd

Unhygienic oral practices, genetic factors, and poor eating habits can damage your teeth and make your smile unattractive. Infected or damaged teeth can damage your social life and limit you from enjoying the foods you like. Fortunately, dental crowns can restore your attractive smile and enhance your overall oral health. Dental crowns will not only restore your oral aesthetics, but they will also strengthen your damaged teeth, restore oral functions, and prevent further damage to your teeth. They are reliable dental restoration features designed to cover your teeth fully. However, a cosmetic dentist must install your dental crowns to help you maximize their benefits.

But how do you know that it's time to invest in dental crowns? Here are three indications that you need to watch out for:

When You Have Cracked Tooth Syndrome

Cracked tooth syndrome is a painful oral issue that occurs when an individual has a cracked tooth. However, the tooth does not get broken when you have this condition. If you are suffering from this problem, you are likely to experience severe pain when biting or chewing foods. Moreover, you might experience extreme sensitivity when chewing or biting hot or cold foods. If a cracked tooth does not get treated quickly, it may get broken unexpectedly. Therefore, if you have a fractured or cracked tooth, it is advisable to visit a dentist to cap it with a dental crown. The crown will prevent the cracked tooth from getting broken, which will also lengthen its lifespan.

When You Have Decayed Teeth

It is also advisable to invest in dental crowns if you have decayed teeth. For instance, if half of one of your teeth is decayed, capping it with a dental crown is a better solution. It will encase the decayed tooth, which will avert further damage. The crown will also strengthen the tooth, restoring your oral functionality.

When You Have Large Fillings

When you have large cavities, it is advisable to consider fillings to avoid oral complications. However, large fillings do not give full-tooth protection. Fillings may leave your tooth exposed and highly vulnerable to breaking. Capping the large fillings on your teeth with dental crowns is the best solution to strengthen them. The crowns will also protect the filled teeth from further damage.

Dental crowns will offer maximum protection to your weak or decayed teeth. They are fundamental for maintaining and restoring your mouth's structural integrity. Schedule an appointment with a cosmetic dentist today if you have any of the above signs to get high-quality dental crowns.
